We are halfway past the semester! But learning never stops! Today, NEXKY has some study techniques to share! 🥰
Are you getting bored of highlighting, re-reading texts, or re-watching long lecture recordings like NEXKY? Although they are not wrong, NEXKY found a more effective method to share with YOU! It is called … “Active Recall”! 🥳
What Is Active Recall?
Active recall is assessing yourself after learning new information in a nutshell. Taking 7 courses per semester can be mentally draining. Although your brain can take in that much information, have you ever found it hard to find key concepts and keywords for exams due to the overloading scattered information? 🧠☁️
Active recall lets you retrieve the information you had just studied right after each study session. If you easily forget new information straight after learning it, this has nothing to do with you lacking the potential. But, practice makes perfect! You simply need to try NEXKY’s method of ACTIVE RECALL repeatedly. ✍🏻
How To Use This Technique?
After learning new information, a lecture, or taking notes, try putting your notes aside and recall the things you have learned as much as you can. Don’t worry if you can’t recall everything; go back to your notes later and try again!
Here are 3 ways to practice active recall!
1.Short Quiz📝
Spend 10-20 minutes after each class to quiz yourself. Don’t worry about any in-depth information. Close your notebook and try to answer these questions. (You may come up with other questions)
-What did I learn today?
-How is this important?
-Who is ___?
-How will ___ work?
2.Group Study🤲🏻
Engaging with your peers and teaching one another can really help you memorize and recall information better! This will ensure ourselves that we have understood the topic to a certain extent to explain it in the simplest terms. So even if you miss out on a few things, don’t worry! Your friends can help point them out!
3.Mind Maps 🧠📍
Not comfortable being in group studies? Draw a mind map! Good for connecting concepts and related topics in a BIGGER picture! First, pick the topic you want to focus on, then pour out all the information you know about that topic. (Make sure all the topics are related and linked to one another!)
📍Remember! Put away your notes and use your memories to recall! There you have it! Give it a try and let NEXKY know if it worked for you!
