Midterm season is coming soon~~ 🙌🏻👀 Books open, minds sharp — what better way to own this season? ⁉️❤️🔥
Today, NEXKY puts together some tips on ” How to Read Like a Pro ” — perfect for boosting your study efficiency! 📚💡What study methods work best for truly understanding and remembering what you learn? Let’s find out! 👇🏻
⭐️ Elaborate : try to explain materials in your own words Making connections between new knowledge and what you’re already familiar with can help you understand the new materials better. Some examples include making further connections with things that you need to remember, restating it in your own words, illustrating it in your mind, or connecting it to something that you’re familiar with.
⭐️ Genetrate & Test : practice through exercises and exams 📝 This is a great way of reviewing materials and testing whether we understand them or not.
⭐️ Organize 📑 : categorize the materials to make them more manageable This helps making connections and finding patterns in the materials that you need to study easier. It also helps with preventing overload, and can make understanding faster and more efficient.
⭐️ Take Breaks 😴 : schedule enoughtime for sleeping and resting Spacing effect explains that studying time should be divided into 45 minutes of studying and 5 minutes of resting. This also depends on how long you can concentrate with studying, but on average, humans have about 50 minutes of attention span. Sleeping is also of the utmost importance.
⭐️ Avoid Illusion of Learning : try asking your self; Do you really understand the topic or are you barely getting a gist of it? 🗞️ Repetition helps us become more familiar with the materials, but that doesn’t mean that we thoroughly understand them just by reading repetitively or highlighting everything. Instead, you should think first before highlighting whether the text is important for further thought and making further connections or not. Do not highlight instinctively.
⭐️ Be an “Active Note Taker” : take notes by writing and summarize in your own words ✏️🔎 Writing with our handwriting is better than typing when it comes to remembering materials. Furthermore, when we write, it’s better to write in our own words because ir can be quite hard to just write down every single thing (which wouldn’t be different from transcribing our professor’s lectures into notes)
📖 NEXKY wishes these tips are helpful in some way to all Chula students❣️
We wish you guys the very best of luck for this semester’s midterm. Don’t forget to try all the tips! Hope you guys get a 99 out of 100 in every courses~~💢📌
Pulled an all-nighter and still feel like it’s not enough? Today, NEXKY is here with study hacks to help you survive midterms! 🔥💯📖
1️⃣ Read summary notes and ask seniors for exam tips 👩🏻🙌🏻 This is a classic shortcut! Studying with a clear guide. Knowing what to focus on helps save time and energy. If you want to understand the exam style, asking seniors who’ve taken the course is one of NEXKY’s top tips. ⭐️❤️
2️⃣ Quiz each other with friends 👩🏻🤝👩🏼✨ A timeless favorite for those who hate studying alone. Studying with friends makes things more interesting and keeps you productive. Just don’t get too carried away chatting! 🗣️💬 ❤️🔥❤️🔥 Try active recall by asking and answering questions with each other or teaching your friend what you’ve learned.
3️⃣ Focus on one thing at a time 📚🔍 Ever studied for an hour but felt like nothing got done? Try making a clear plan and deciding which subject or topic to focus on first. Concentrating on one thing improves your efficiency. ❤️🔥❤️🔥Pair this with the Pomodoro method and find a quiet study spot without distractions. You’ll see your focus more effectively. 🔥
4️⃣ Practice with past questions 📝⚡️ “A great athlete isn’t the one who knows the theory best, but it’s the one who train the most.” Doing practice questions helps you discover your weak points so you can review those areas before the real exam.
5️⃣ Turn comtent into visuals 🖼️🪄 Too much content to remember? Make it easier by turning it into diagrams or charts. This helps your brain organize information better, making it easier to recall during exams.
6️⃣ Make categorized checklists ✒️🗒️ Every subject has tons of content, so list out all the key topics that might appear on the test. This gives you a big-picture view and helps you prioritize. If you cover every item on your list, that A is definitely within reach!
✨️ Lastly, NEXKY is cheering for every Chula student out there. You’re already doing your best. Don’t stress out too much. You got this! 💖🫂✨️
